Snuff 1976 is a video installation based on a North American low budget film shot in Argentina. “The movie that could only be made in South America, where life is cheap”, that is how the film was promoted in 1976, with the promise of showing a real murder on screen, and giving birth to the most perverse film genre: snuff films. The actors were from Argentina, their names are not credited and the producers said they disappeared after shooting the film. This project consisted in finding the lost actors and making the argentine remake of the entire sound of Snuff (including voices, music and sound effects) to return it to Spanish language, trying to give it back to its original context and in some way to repatriate the film.
This project was produced thanks to the Bienal de Arte Joven de Buenos Aires.
